Wile E.

2012 | HD | 14m

Plot - A girl in New York and boy in Amsterdam are in a long distance relationship. Things fall apart, literally.

Inspired by a Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner sketch where Wile E. paints a tunnel on a rock that only the Roadrunner can pass through, I developed a technique for this film of projecting onto paper so I could physically cut out portions of the action which creates the effect of tactility on screen.

Wile E. is a deconstruction of drama on film; the edges of the character’s world floats around our screen, the music and image are separated from the dialogue and the 3 part structure of introduction, disagreement and conclusion is laid bare.

Just like Roadrunner's tunnel, even if we can see how the film is constructed, we’ll enter(tain) it nevertheless.
