Chloé SS21

2020 | Live Show + Digital Assets

With poiuytre (now Formats and Mechanisms) we realised the Creative Concept, Choreography, Set Design, Art Direction, Videography, Creative Production Management, Videography and Live Video Direction for Chloé’s SS21 show.

Working with designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi we created a live show that was presented live for an audience at Palais de Tokyo and streamed online. 37 models were positioned around the Palais ie. on the surrounding streets, on bridges over the Seine and others as far away as the other bank. There were three cameras positioned on each side of the venue that picked up the models and projected them onto three towering vertical screens on display to the audience inside the Palais.

This triptych of live camera feeds showed each model walking towards the Palais, the theme of the show was sisterhood and togetherness which played out as micro-narratives on the streets of Paris with passersby were unaware that a theatrical movie was playing out in front of them. The choreographies of both the models in the streets and the cameras were carefully timed to create a series of timed compositions on the vertical screens at each passing moment.

The audience in the Palais watched it all play out in real time as they realised the models they had seen on the screens were turning up in front of them in the venue. As the last models entered the cameras turned from the streets and pointed inside the Palais de Tokyo to capture the models comping together to form a tableaux vivant and finally into a catwalk.
